Code-named "Goshawk" several experimental chassis had shown most promising results when severe tests of the first 'baby' Rolls-Royce had been executed. The Rolls-Royce 20 hp is easily recognisable by its horizontally arranged radiator shutters (only the last series sported vertical shutters). With a shorter wheelbase and a more economical engine it proved an ideal addition to Rolls-Royce's range as a second model alongside the Silver Ghost. Its lighter weight and a reduced turning circle gave the 20 hp fine handling. A large number were provided with formal coachwork and heavy bodies didn't enhance performance.
